How Can I Increase My Feminine Energy?
There’s a very simple answer to the question, “How can I increase my feminine energy?”: You can’t.
Feminine energy isn’t something you can experience in your daily life, build upon, improve, progress, or become better at. All of these words are related to masculine structures and, yes, they are necessary for the world. But if our topic is about living in our own Yin, our femininity (notice I’m not saying *femininity* as in “female-ness”), then the focus is entirely on deepening, not increasing.
When we set goals and objectives for ourselves, we neglect something very important: ourselves. On the path we’ve accepted as the only right one—constantly striving for success—we often end up trampling over ourselves. Doing can appear to be the only way, but deep down, human beings long to be, to simply exist. This is exactly what they mean when they talk about “fulfilling life’s purpose.”
We’ve discussed many times before that feminine energy isn’t just related to womanhood. If you’re starting to gain clarity on this, then we’re on the right track. And I also assume we now understand that feminine energy isn’t a skill we can tick off a list after successfully increasing it. What remains is how to truly deepen in feminine energy.
As long as we avoid the voids and dark sides that feminine energy represents, we only show the world our light—our conscious and desirable traits. But feminine energy includes not just the parts of us we present to the world, but also the traits that exist in our unconscious, the parts that are just as much “us” as the light we display, and that complete our being.
It includes all the aspects we don’t want to embrace; for example, we hide behind our know-it-all attitude to cover up feelings of jealousy, vulnerability, and loneliness that the system continuously pushes us to suppress. By doing so, we adopt a version of feminine energy that society approves of, drawing a strong woman/human figure.
I’m not suggesting we completely surrender to our darkness. I’m saying that the parts of ourselves we ignore are holding us back from life. They may be hardening your chest, tiring your shoulders, causing stomachaches, making your joints ache, or giving you headaches. They might be creating anger, preventing you from connecting with people, or disrupting your enjoyment. All these parts want to be seen; they want to be accepted. Deepening in feminine energy starts with acceptance.
The signals our body gives us may be hard to express in words, so you need to communicate with them on a deeper level—through your body. Sometimes, in the middle of a dance, your mind may not be able to interpret or define what you’re feeling, but your body will be accepting and releasing all those parts for you. All the aspects of yourself that you don’t want to see or that burden you will find expression in your body through dance, and you will have transformed them.
This is why we dance. Not to be happy all the time, not to party all the time, not to look sexy.
We dance to fully live what’s within us; to transform it into movement and expression.
And when we do this as part of a group, the tribal energy awakens, and we remember the most ancient satisfaction of being human.
Being part of a tribe and losing yourself in dance—this is where your feminine energy waits to be remembered.
