The Cause of Pain or Injury

We often think that we injure our bodies at the exact moment of an accident or mishap. (Of course, I’m not referring to serious accidents here, but rather something like twisting an ankle while walking.)

It feels as though the injury happened suddenly, all at once.

Or when a part of our body aches, we assume that the source of the pain is precisely in that area.

But this is not the case. That’s why we struggle to find solutions for chronic pain or injure ourselves even with simple movements.

The injury might not occur in your body at the exact moment you hurt yourself. And the area that aches is not necessarily the primary source of the problem.

When we move our bodies carelessly or according to certain habits, the result is damage and injury.

This injury begins to affect the entire body in a chain reaction, though the intensity might be more noticeable in a specific area.

Still, this doesn’t mean that, in pain treatment, we should only focus on the area that hurts.

When we experience pain, we often focus solely on the painful spot, neglecting to see how the body is connected in a holistic, spiraling network.

Remembering the body’s connective tissue network—the fascia—is the first key step to our health.

The cause of your lower back pain could be your knee, the cause of your knee pain could be your jaw, the cause of your jaw pain could be your neck, and the cause of your neck pain could be improper foot posture...

Thus, instead of treating the body as separate parts, we must consider it as a whole and understand that pain or injury in one area is part of a larger system of the body.

Once we understand this holistic nature, pain and injury in our bodies will begin to disappear. In their place, the body’s innate wisdom will emerge, and life will become a much easier place to navigate.
