About Training
The concept of power often comes to us laden with diverse definitions and societal impositions. Some of us believe we are too powerless to act, build resilience, or maintain stability. Others may live with the belief that power is essential for survival and that life must be structured around this definition of strength.
In Taoist philosophy, power is positioned in a much different light than in our Westernized minds. It speaks to the wisdom of knowing your power but not always wielding it, and discovering the strength found in softness.
Each era brings its physical and perceptual norms, which then give rise to exercise trends. These trends, however, are often no more than external "ideas" imposed upon us, bearing little connection to our physical reality.
So how can we invite power that arises organically from our essence and our bodies?
During this retreat, we will explore—through somatic practices—how to cultivate our unique power not as an ideal but as an embodied quality that manifests in the world. We will reflect on questions such as:
Where do our limits begin and end?
Could these limits have been decided by someone else on our behalf?
How far can we safely expand them before harm occurs?
How can we support someone else in experiencing their power?
How is our strength nourished when we feel supported?
