Fatigue Might Be a Choice
We know that as a result of winter, we prone to move less compared to spring and summer, which we perceive this as a natural process. And so it is.
Or, those of us who follow astrology especially associate their reluctance to move with retrogrades, for example, we are currently in the Mars retrograde period and this period will continue for a long time. Astrology experts usually interpret this as “Mars wants us to slow down”.
“The world is already calling you to action, but could it be you that are resisting to this?”
Well, does slowing down mean not moving at all?
I often see that many people around me blame their inaction on the winter season, the planets, other people, bosses, and their jobs. I have never been one to argue that we should push ourselves to try too hard and do too much. Effortless action, effortless dancing and participating in the movement that is already happening are my main areas of work.
The world is already calling you to action, but could you be resisting it?
Could chronic fatigue be a choice rather than something that happens to you?
There are many situations that trigger our fatigue in the modern age. Indeed, living in such fast rhythms in metropole cities may be hard on our bodies. We may feel so exhausted that we cannot take any action. We may not feel like doing anything. Yes, maybe those times, it's best to just surrender to this feeling and wait for it to go away.
So, what if it doesn't go away, what can we do if we are fed up with this situation and an instinct inside us tells us that there is a solution to this?
Let's take a look at what we can do:
We can create routines for ourselves. We can give a care to include our body in these routines. This could be applying oil to our entire body every morning when we wake up; could be opening the window and stretching slightly while waiting for the room to air out; if we are someone who makes coffee every morning, while we’re waiting for the brewing coffee, we can adapt a few movements into our routine, even taking help from the kitchen counter for these little movements is possible, like leaning and stretching.
When making action plans for ourselves, we can make sure that these activities are “do-able every day”, rather than extreme, 1-2 hour activities. It is always useful to start with 10-minute periods and then extend it if we feel like it.
We can put on a tune and burn incense for ourselves. Although maybe we are already doing all these but the important thing here is; For example, when burning that incense,
do not burn it irrelevantly. Key is to care and believe in being present in every unit of the action you perform. We cannot entirely rely on oils, incenses, and nutritional supplements, but our presence while using them could strengthen their effects on us.
We can change the actions we do in rote. A make-up by rote, a breakfast by rote… We can question and revise our movements that we have automatised without thinking. At this point, routine turns into a ritual.
No matter how cold the weather is in winter and how attractive our warm homes are; We can encourage ourselves to participate in some social events. Sometimes, on an evening when we think we don't want to go out at all, we can find our enthusiasm for living by going to a very kindly invited event such as a concert.
Instead of resisting the cold or perceiving winter as a state of sleep, we can observe our body's relationship with the cold. If we have an overly contracted body, we can do small relaxation exercises while walking on the way. How does our body react and how do we feel as the cold is waking our muscles? How does it feel to my body to think that the cold not only makes me cold but also keeps me vigorous?
I could list many more states and some questions in our minds here.
The purpose here is to at least question whether fatigue is really something that happens. Let's not confuse the fatigue feeling here with not resting at all, of course we will rest. However, chronic fatigue is definitely a sign that we are doing something wrong, maybe we are doing something we don't want to do, maybe we should change something in the way we do it, maybe we should calm down our internal war... Every person can know that best for themselves.
One thing I know very well is that steady exercise can support all of these.
Where regular exercise meets art; That is, in dance, although it’s is a physical action, you will see that your soul and even your body -unless you exaggerate- are rested.
Now, what could you be waiting for to turn on some music and dance?
Let's change your perception now.
Maybe “Not being exhausted” may be your new choice.
