About This Course
We all want to connect with life in one way or another, and we try various methods to do so. In the process, we sometimes get lost in theory. Eroticism, at this point, is a state of consciousness that supports our capacity to perceive the meditative aspect of theories and being able to live the knowledge through our senses. We grasp it not with the mind, but with pure experience, though we cannot hold on to it. During this four-meeting process, we will accept the support of the ground to experience what our own eros, our own eroticism, is like.
In this series, which will mostly involve improvisation, we will also practice some simple floor techniques, known as “floorwork,” to facilitate certain transitions.
Originally titled What is the Erotic Feeling?, this class is a research space named Erotik Hissiyat Nedir? in Turkish. It is also taught under the name Sensuality in Dance. To nurture our eros, we must work with our sensuality. Eroticism is much deeper than the meaning taught to us, and its etymological origin is rooted in Eros. Understanding Eros and eroticism in all its details allows us to live life fully. The goal of this class is to establish a sincere connection with our erotic being—to be able to think and talk about eroticism, and to free it from its connection to sexuality and understand it in a broader sense.
What will you experience?
Theoretical and physical practices on these topics. If you want to feel alive while truly letting your body surrender to the ground, this training is for you. You will experience methods to feel closer to yourself as you get closer to the ground and to move freely while on the ground.
Participants are invited to wear comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement and arrange a space large enough to lie down on their back.
