About This Workshop
Belly dance is an ancient and deeply rooted form of dance, embodied through various different approaches. It can be performed as a visual art or experienced as a ritualistic moving meditation. Through the latter lens, we can perceive belly dance and the sensation of our navel as a means to center ourselves, to ground, align within our bodies, gently awaken our life force, and expand outward from our center. In the Anatolian approach, belly dance isn’t about grand performances or dramatic movements; it’s about staying connected within, feeling the entirety of our internal space. It is from this internal harmony that true grace emerges. But to truly experience this harmony, it is not enough to simply feel our navel—we must also feel our connection to the earth and allow that to flow into our dance. This workshop is designed to help you recognize that invisible relationship, the constant flow between your navel and the earth.
Participants are invited to wear comfortable clothes that don't restrict movement.
You can access the video recording of the 90-minute workshop through your panel for 45 days.
